Jesu – 2007-04-03

April 4th, 2007

I hate being forced to stealth when the band in question is an open-taping band. The times when this happens are when there is some film crew doing a big production at a show and I really don’t have a problem with that except for the fact that I never see anything come of these filming projects. Think about it. When was the last time you were at a show and there were five or six guys with high-end cameras and when was the last time you ever saw a finished product from those people?

Yeah, I haven’t seen one live DVD be produced from one of these things. I don’t care if you want exclusivity rights over a show but at least publish something that people can watch/listen to.

Oh yeah: Jesu blew me away.

Oh my Lord…I am forever in your debt. Thank you thank you thank you!

  2. amerrykan Says:

    Thanks for taping!

I was right behind you in line when Security was telling you there was no taping allowed. I didn’t want to be all like “INTERNET LOL”.

  3. Brian Says:

    NO TAPING ALLOWED! HAH!

I don’t mind an Internet Moment every once in a while, to be quite honest.

Just don’t be this guy from SomethingAwful who screamed the words INTERNET and SOMETHING AWFUL at me in public.

    In public.

  4. amerrykan Says:

You didn’t happen to capture Zozobra, did you?

  5. Brian Says:

No I didn’t, sorry. If you go to TheTradersDen there is a recording of Zozobra in Minneapolis that emptyzero recorded.

  6. Jason Says:

Sweet sweet nectar! Thanks for the d/l Brian.

  7. cavis Says:

thanks for taping jesu, and im sorry you had problems taping openly.

just to defend Ken (the guy filming there) a bit, I don’t think it was him that shut down taping for the show, although I haven’t talked to him since this show, so I could very well be wrong. But I’ve openly filmed several shows that he and his crew were at down here, and I’ve never heard anything negative about me taping those shows as well. The way Isis’ policy has been this tour I wouldn’t be surprised if it was them that shut down taping that night honestly.

Brian: get in touch with me or stop by the hub and I’ll hook you up with my recordings from the SF stop. I’ll probably torrent the other two, but don’t really want to mass distribute jesu because their bass player was having gear problems throughout the show.

  8. Brian Says:

Will do. I need to get back on that hub sometime soon.

    Thanks for the info Chris.

  9. Omar Says:

In all fairness, since I was with the filming guys (Ken and Joel) in question, they didn’t ask for exclusive rights. In fact, they were surprised no one else was recording, because they certainly weren’t for the first two acts. I even said I was surprised not to see Mr. Connolly patched into the soundboard, and they said, “He probably should.”

I’d suspect ISIS in this matter. And that sucks, because I was really looking forward to a serious torrent of the show.

  10. Brian Says:

GAH! I even asked like three different people at the venue! I had two other guys with me who wanted to tape too.

No biggie in the grand scheme of things. Not every show can be taped I suppose.

I guess it was just a case of not knowing who to talk to in order to make things happen. It happens.

  11. Cool'k/off Says:

How can I open *.flac files?

  12. Martin Says:

Listening to this recording right now – awesome! I’ll be taping them December 5th (Amsterdam) and 14th (The Hague), expect torrents at dimeadozen.org soon afterwards.

An aside: I’m not sure what previous posts refer to, but it might be that Isis has always been pro-taping *except* video (because some band members are uncomfortable with this) – unfortunately this isn’t widely known.

  13. Azbest Says:

    Great recording. Thanks.
