Massive Attack – 2006-04-26

April 27th, 2006

Second night in a row taping The Paramount, but this time on the main floor instead of the balcony. The real danger of taping from the main floor is making sure you don’t get caught under the huge overhang of the balcony. There is probably about 30 feet of space from the lip of the stage to the edge of the overhang which kinda sucks if the show is sold out… I imagine the sound is super muddy back there when it bounces all over the place.

So anyhow, Massive Attack played The Paramount last night and I was there, the lonely stealth taper. I like going to shows by myself because if I feel like leaving early I can do that without feeling bad for anyone else, but it sucks because you don’t have anyone to talk to. All you do is stand around and stare at a few hundred douche bags and overhear their inane blathering. You desperately want to have your own inane blather-fest, but you have no one with which to do that. Le sigh.

Regardless, the show was really good. I wouldn’t have gone if a buddy of mine hadn’t asked me to go and tape it for him, but I’m glad that I did. I can’t say I’m a real huge follower of the band but I’ve heard most of their stuff over the years at least once. I was curious to see how they would do a live show given that the genre they pretty much invented (trip hop) is based on samples and synths. To counter my skepticism, the band produced two live drum kits, a bassist, an electric guitarist, and a keyboard player. The sound was huge and impressive. It sounded just like the albums but it didn’t feel like you were listening to karaoke. And without further ado, I give you Massive Attack live in Seattle

thank you so much for the flac of the show! wow, i was blown away at work today that someone got a good recording of it. wish the setup at the paramount was a bit louder, but the show was stellar nonetheless. thanks again!

You should put this on tradersden.org as a torrent. I’m lucky I stumbled upon this, I love being able to get shows I’ve actually been to. Getting out there on trader’s den and such would be phenomenal.

  7. Brian Says:

Why would I put it on TTD if you can already download it here faster? Exposure? Meh, I can do without the kind of exposure that places like TTD can offer.

Hey thanks so much for sharing this. I had to dig for this though(good thing you taped commented on an Isis/Zombi show and I am seeing them tomorrow. Anywho If there is anything you see on my list I will gladly send you a couple of discs worth of shows as a sign of appreciation since I cannot afford a taping rig.

[…] Sometimes I go to shows and tape for people when I normally would have just sat at home. Usually it’s a good experience, like when I taped Massive Attack and Murder By Death. Last night I taped The Fall Of Troy for a friend of mine and, overall, it was a good show. […]
