Ryan Adams – 2008-01-26
January 27th, 2008I kinda took a hiatus from taping. It wasn’t because of a lack of concerts to go to but that I started concentrating on having a better diet and reading more. Somehow taping got the axe in that shift. I also applied to go to grad school at the University of Washington which required essays and letters of recommendation and GRE scores and blah blah fart. Still waiting to hear back from them.
But all of that’s done now and I’m back to being normal Brian for the most part. And now I’m taping more shows.
I picked a good night to go taping, though. It was a good time with friends who were all going to the show, the venue didn’t hassle me at all, the music was goddamn amazing, and my recording actually came out really nice considering I was running my mics at head height in the mezzanine.
So here you can enjoy this Ryan Adams recording. Setlist includes some older songs he hasn’t played in years such as “Come Pick Me Up” and and then let your body melt away to the soothing sounds of the piano as it lilts “Halloweenhead” to your dome.

Thanks Brian! Glad you are ‘normal’ again and taping. Can not wait to hear this show. The reviews are phenomenal! Went to Tucson and San Diego shows. Wish I were still ‘on the tour’! Thanks again.

Very very much appreciated. I came from Minneapolis to see this show. It was amazing. We don’t get Ryan Adams shows like this. You rock. Good luck with all your stuff!

Thanks for the show! I made an inaugural run with my Microtrack, but had low frequency distortion, so I was thrilled to find someone had gotten a good recording!

Hey man, was two seats down from you at the show. Brought by neighbor, who had never heard Ryan Adams before. He was the guy sitting to your right. The one you had to explain to that you were not with the band… anyway, I hope the recording turns out great. I’ve downloaded it, but am seriously lacking in the computer skills so I’m trying to figure out how to actually listen to it. (I assume I’ve got to get some software to convert it.) My end goal is to get a cd of it for my buddy, since after the show he is really interested in getting everything Ryan Adams he can get his hands on.
Thanks man!

Just put all of those files in the same folder as the FLAC files and run flac2mp3.js. Should work if you’re running XP.
Alternatively, I put the recording up on Archive.org which offers up the FLAC files alongside OGG and MP3: http://www.archive.org/details/radams2008-01-26.akgc1000s.flac16

Alternatively, get yourself two blank CDs and burn the FLAC files with burnatonce…
Brian, thanks so much for all the effort you put into taping all these shows, it’s very much appreciated!
Cheers,
Hugh.

Brian,
We were in row A. Grabbed the show. Thanks for getting it out there so quickly!! What kind of gear are you using? We have a DAT but am wanting to get something hard drive based. Maybe the new Marantz PMD620 or the new Sony. Haven’t taped much in quite a while and figure an HD recorder would make it easier. Tapes are a pain!

The recording information is in the text file actually.
If you’re on a budget, I’d recommend getting a used JB3. You’ll be able to pull soundboards as long as you have the correct cable. If you want to move on to mic’d recording, toss in a battery box and a pair of Sound Professionals or Church Audio microphones and you’ll be good to go.

I have a set of core sound binaurals with a battery box that work out well for stealth recordings and plenty of cables for soundboards. Will check out that text file tonight. Thanks again.

Hey Brian! I can’t believe I found this recording! Thank You! I have seen Ryan many times, and this was by far the best show yet. Having stumbled upon this site by luck, just makes it all the better. One ? though if you don’t mind: I have a mac, and I have no idea what to do with the file once it is downloaded. Any tips? Thank you again! happy taping
