The Helio Sequence, Silversun Pickups – 2006-04-28
April 29th, 2006This band has been slept on so hard it’s ridiculous. They put on such a great show and their music is so powerful and full of energy that it amazes me that they don’t sell out clubs every time they play. Also, Benjamin Weikel is far and away the most entertaining drummer to watch play. He’s like a muppet playing drums. Mouth hanging open in a huge smile. Eyes all huge and wide. You can tell he’s genuinely excited to be playing the songs.

MEGA B/C! DAMN… I should have kept better track of Silversun Pickups being in town. They’re one of my fav new bands and I really missed out.
Thanks so much for taping and sharing. Just a quick question though… are the links working properly, or is my browser malfunctioning? I know you are so busy with attending and taping all these gigs, but your help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS!

Cheers!
Sorry to be a pain in the ass… but just thought I would mention I tried 2 downloads on track 11 of the Crystal Skulls gig and both times they failed the MD5 check.
Track in question:
cs2006-04-28d1t11.flac
It could be my system, but since this is the first time I’ve ever had one of your files fail I though I would mention it just in case you like to track these things.
No complaints… just wanted to send a heads up.
THANKS AGAIN!!

Thanks for the tip. I re-uploaded Track 11 and I’ll run the md5 via ssh from now on to make sure the files validate upon upload.

Thanks for the re-upload. The new version Track 11 verifies PERFECTLY!
As I mentioned before, out of the many many files you’ve provided, I’ve never had one fail before, so if running the MD5 on the server is a lot of work you might not need the extra verification. Of course if you’re like a bootleg Mr. Monk (like some of my friends… you know who you are) then you might like doing the extra check anyway.
Thanks again for sharing your recordings, your efforts, and the extra work on this show.

No biggie. It’s really just a matter of logging in to the server via ssh and running a single line command. I should have done it from the start but I hastily trusted that the files uploaded properly.

Hey there,
I just wanted to say thanks for posting the Helio Sequence show – I fully agree w/ your comments. It boggles my mind how Seattle of all places can not give a band with their sound a packed house. With that said, I totally couldn’t make the show myself. Figures. So to come full circle, thanks again for posting it, I’m glad for the chance to hear what I missed.

These look great, and I can’t wait to grab them when I get home. I also have a HS recording from Tampa Florida that I did while I was living down there. they were in town on a tour opening for Modest Mouse. Pretty good quality, and I would love to share. Had it up on Dime for a while, but there weren’t many bite surprisingly.
Anyway, I’ll get back after I get off the ship….

Thank you for the Helio Sequence show. It’s been a dry spell for this band as far as taped shows go.
They are, in short, overwhelming live.

Oh by the way the first track for the helio sequence gig is actually “My Heart”

Thanks, I did not know that. I just thougt it was some kind of intro jam.

That’s a great recording. And it’s the only live recording I have found still online.
